Project Details

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation was going to upgrade the highway that serves as the main street for the Village of Star Prairie. Their plans only included a mill and overlay of the center 24-feet of the street; therefore, the deteriorated 10-foot parking lanes and curb and gutter would remain. The Village decided to seize the opportunity to upgrade all aspects of the road while they had the chance. Along with the WisDOT improvements, the Village added the mill and overlay of the parking lanes and removal and replacement of the curb and gutter including associated driveway entrances and sidewalks. These improvements gave the Village a beautiful corridor that has reflected positively for the community pride.

Stevens provided a feasibility report with associated cost estimates necessary for special assessments to the adjacent residents, public input meetings and hearings, assessment roles, coordination with WisDOT to get these items incorporated into the plans and specifications, and final documentation of cost allocations between WisDOT and the Village.
