The Village of Star Prairie is split by the Apple River. The existing water main serving the west side of the river was suspended on the County Road M Bridge. The bridge is scheduled for replacement and as a result, the Village elected to replace the bridge crossing with a new underground crossing. Both open-cut and directional drilling methods of installation were evaluated. Directional drilling proved to be the most cost-effective option and provided the minimal impact to the Apple River corridor. Stevens provided surveying and civil engineering services including Board of Commissioners of Public Lands State Trust Fund Loan application; topographic survey; design and plant operation; bidding services; and construction administration; inspection and staking.
