Project Details

The City of Shakopee’s community center and one ice arena was not enough for this growing metro community. So, the City decided to expand and renovate the existing community center with a new aquatic center, senior lounge, teen center, indoor playground, and fitness center, along with adding a new building that would house two NHL-sized rinks, locker rooms, dryland space, and meeting rooms. Along with the building improvement, the City also needed to make modifications to the site, such as reconfiguration of the existing drives, expansion of the parking lots including landscaped walkways for pedestrian safety, relocation of sanitary sewer and water main pipes, expansion of storm water ponding and piping to meet MPCA Storm Water Management, and modifications to grades to create berming.

Stevens provided the design services for all of these project components, including construction administration and as-built plans.
