The project consists of constructing a 1,500-foot trail along the south-easterly side of Lake George. The trail is a 10-foot wide asphalt pavement surface which is compliant with the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA). Construction of multiple retaining walls were necessary due to the elevations and proximity to the lake.
An erosion control design was a significant factor in this project and a Chapter 30 permit was needed to address the construction within the floodplain. Runoff will be conveyed on the south side of the trail by a combination of asphalt curbing and ditching, and a culvert will link the low depression with the infiltration / rate control basin on the north side of the trail. An earthen weir outfall will provide a controlled outlet to Lake George.
Stevens provided the surveying and design services for all of these project components, including topographic surveys, design of the trail and drainage, erosion control, and permitting.
