Street Improvement Project: Woodman Street

Local Street Reconstruction

Woodman Street before and after reconstruction

VILLAGE OF ELMWOOD, PIERCE COUNTY, WI

Woodman Street in the Village of Elmwood was in very poor condition. This roadway in near a school and handles a large amount of vehicular and bus traffic. In addition, there were many resident complaints about sand and dirt washing from the pavement into their yards and about the uncontrolled drainage. The Village initiated a street improvement project to address these issues.

Stevens Engineers assisted the Village with the following:

  • Design of a storm sewer system which carried stormwater to a stormwater detention and treatment area.
  • Preparation of plans and specifications for the reconstruction of the roadway, installation of curb and gutter, drainage improvements, and restoration.
  • Coordination with Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the permitting, design and construction of a turn lane off of the state highway onto Woodman Street. This also included improvements to the sight lines at the intersection of Woodman and STH 72.
  • Preparation of permits for grading, and for discharge of stormwater into the river.
  • Construction surveying and observation.
