Hammond Town Park
Park Projects
TOWN OF HAMMOND, ST. CROIX COUNTY, WI
Master Planning is essential for growing communities to make the best use of limited space and resources. A master plan will guide your community along the path to achieving its ultimate goals for growth and development of recreational facilities. A master plan will enable your community to maximize efficient use of land and funding and to establish a basis for park impact fees. The most important tool in coordinating construction costs with funding availability is a comprehensive master plan.
As part of a continued effort to develop centrally located community facilities for a rapidly growing population, the Hammond Town Board selected Stevens Engineers to design a Master Plan for the Town Park on the existing Town Hall site.
The goals of the design for the 20 acre site were to:
- Create a place where residents of all ages are able to gather and enjoy recreational and family activities.
- Incorporate the site amenities into the existing topography to minimize construction costs and maximize the natural
- surroundings.
- Incorporate the Town's recycling center without interfering with the function and atmosphere of the park.
- Provide amenities near the Town Hall for easy access and monitoring.
- Using the information from a Town survey, Stevens Engineers collaborated with the Town's Park Committee to determine what type of activities would be best to include in the Park.
- The first phase of construction was completed in 2004 and included 200 feet of park road, a sand play area with play equipment, a picnic shelter, restroom facilities, and a recycling area.
